Building a Successful YouTube Channel: My Plan
Hey everyone,
In this newsletter, I’m sharing how I plan to build my YouTube channel publicly and succeed. I’ll walk you through my simple, straightforward plan—nothing too complex. Let’s dive in.
My YouTube Journey So Far
I’ve been on YouTube on and off for 3-4 years, but nothing has really taken off. My highest subscriber count on any channel is 22. That’s right, just 22. I have four brands, and I’ve been reflecting on why I’ve failed so far. Here’s what I’ve realized:
Low-Quality Content: My videos weren’t solving real problems or providing value.
Inconsistency: I wasn’t consistent with uploads—sometimes going months without posting.
Lack of Credibility: I didn’t establish myself as an expert in my niche.
These were the three main reasons I failed. I didn’t know what worked, I wasn’t consistent, and my videos were low quality—both in terms of value and technical aspects like audio and lighting.
The Plan to Fix It
Here’s how I’m addressing these issues:
1. Improving Video Quality
Technical Quality: I’ve invested in tools to improve my audio and video.
I use Riverside.fm for recording. It removes background noise and makes editing seamless.
I’ve ordered a Fifine AM8 microphone and a mic stand to improve audio further.
I’ve also set up proper lighting so people can see me clearly.
Value: I’m scripting and planning my videos better. I ask myself: What does the viewer expect when they click on this video? How can I deliver that?
2. Consistency
For my main channel, I’m posting 3 videos a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
For my affiliate marketing channel, I’m posting 1 video daily to test what works quickly.
Consistency is key. Even if it’s just one video a week, I’ll stick to it.
3. Building Credibility
I’m showing my process publicly and collaborating with others to build trust.
I’m also testing different types of content to see what resonates with my audience.
Testing and Learning
The only way to know what works is by testing. I’m posting videos intentionally and analyzing the analytics—not just views, but engagement, retention, and other metrics. This will help me double down on what works and improve what doesn’t.
